Reiki Healing: Putting Everything in Balance

by Camila Davidson

If you're looking for a holistic approach to stress-reduction, pain management, and muscle recovery, reiki energy healing might be the solution you're looking for. Blending ancient Eastern and modern Western holistic techniques, your reiki bodywork specialist can be tailored to a session to meet your specific needs.

Here are some common reiki energy healing therapies used to bring your mind, body, and spirit into balance.

Healing Touch

Reiki healing therapy is founded on the ancient Japanese philosophy of bringing the body, spirit, and mind into alignment to optimize your health and well-being. Some Reiki healing techniques require physical touch. The following are just two examples.

Yoga: Gentle stretching, coupled with conscious breathing exercises can bring your body and mind back into balance. Because most Reiki energy healing sessions happen on a massage table, this means that your bodywork specialist can talk you through breathing exercises while gently stretching your body to correct imbalances. For instance, for tight hips, your Reiki healing specialist might have you breathe deeply to open your diaphragm and relax your core muscles. Once these areas are relaxed, your massage therapist can stretch your hips, glutes, hamstrings, quads, and lower back to release the tension causing your hip discomfort.

ART: Active Release Therapy lengthens muscles through active and passive resistance cycles. For Reiki energy healing sessions, your bodyworks specialist will stretch your muscles until they feel resistance. Once they feel the resistance, they'll instruct you to resist against them for 3 to 5 seconds. After resisting, you'll be instructed to relax. They'll repeat this cycle until your muscles length and loosen up.

Psychological Touch

Reiki healing therapy is predicated on a mind, body, and spirit balance. To help balance your mind and spirit, your reiki healing specialist will use the following techniques to optimize the physical touch.

Music: tonal vibrations have been shown to align muscle fibers and nerve receptors. Using tuning forks, your reiki healing expert will direct tonal vibrations into areas of the body that feel blocked, tight, or sore. As these areas release, your reiki healing expert can modify the vibrations to increase blood flow and neural reception.

Crystals: metallurgic components in crystals have been demonstrated to stimulate blood flow and reduce inflammation. Your reiki healing expert can place crystals along your spine and other areas to complement the relaxation you gain through your sessions. As your massage therapist gets to know your body and your needs, they can adjust the types of crystals and the arrangements.
